On July 24, a Kazakh delegation on ecological and environmental protection visited Lanzhou. They walked along the Yellow River, visiting Wanghe Pavilion and Luojiu Road, overlooking the green ridges of the South and North Mountains. They listened to the story of Lanzhou people's 70‑year afforestation journey: from carrying ice up the mountains, to multi-stage pumping irrigation, and then to smart water-saving irrigation. 

Standing at Wanghe Pavilion, the delegation was captivated by the view. From an abandoned pump house to a riverside viewing platform, Lanzhou's systematic management of the Yellow River has not only preserved industrial memories but also created new city landmarks.

Now, over 620,000 mu has been afforested on the two mountains, conserving more than 20 million tons of water annually. Next, the delegation will travel to Wuwei to see desertification control practices. From Lanzhou to Wuwei, these ecological efforts across different regions illustrate the practical path of ecological governance in northwest China.
