8月4日下午，巴基斯坦驻华大使卡里尔·哈什米一行莅临兰州大学参观访问。大使赞赏兰州自2008年他首次访问以来在可持续发展方面取得的成就，并幽默地说：“始终不变的是美味的兰州牛肉拉面。”大使还提出希望巴基斯坦的一些省份与甘肃省建立国际友好省关系、扩大兰州大学巴基斯坦留学生规模、开展农业联合研究。

On the afternoon of August 4, Khalil Hashmi, Pakistani Ambassador to China, and his delegation visited Lanzhou University. The ambassador praised Lanzhou's achievements in sustainable development since his first visit in 2008, humorously remarking, "The one thing that never changes is the delicious Lanzhou beef noodles." He also expressed hopes to establish sister-province relations between certain Pakistani provinces and Gansu, expand the number of Pakistani students at Lanzhou University, and promote joint agricultural research.
